COMMENTS
The album is simply titled Melanie but is more often referred to as either, The Dutch Album, or Melanie 1987 (to distinguish it from her 1969 album). In fact, this was Melanie's first album to be released on CD, though it was only issued in Holland. Cassette (MC 656.097) and vinyl (LP 856.097) formats also exist. It now seems to be one of the hardest albums to find, with few copies coming up for sale. An autographed one that appeared on Ebay had a starting bid of $100.
The album would probably be classed as 'soft rock' or 'adult orientated rock'.
The tracks Cyclone and Roadburn are both re-recordings of earlier songs, the former from Photograph (1976) and the latter from Arabesque (1982). These 1987 versions, along with the versions of Show You and Rock and Roll Heart are unique to this album and this is the only place that you’ll find a recording of It's A Fine World. A re-recorded (or re-mixed) version of Wonderer, titled I Can’t Help But Wonder, turned up as the B-side of the single To Be A Star in Australia.
