When this CD first went out of print it became one of the most collectable Melanie items, will copies sometimes selling for over £100 on auction sites. As with other C-Five releases tracks suffered from tape hiss and occasional distortion. |
COMMENTS
The US issue of Gather Me ( NRS 47001) saw the launch of Melanie's own record label Neighborhood. However, in the UK Buddah Records still had a contract for one more album and so it was released here as Buddah Deluxe 2322 002.
Of course the album produced Melanie's biggest hit on both sides of the Atlantic. Brand New Key b/w Some Say (I Got Devil) (Buddah 2011 105) reach number four in the UK singles charts and spent three weeks at number one in the US. However, follow up singles Ring the Living Bell b/w Railroad (Buddah 2011 115) and Some Day I'll Be A Farmer b/w Lay Lady Lay (Buddah 2011 136) both failed to make any impact on the UK charts.
